A Time to Remember

September 11, a day that lives in infamy in my lifetime.

Today is a day that should become a National Day of Rememberance. It should be tantamount to Independence Day, a day that symbolizes an awakening for the United States of America.

The tragic terrorist attacks on the Twin Towers in New York should never have happened and should never be forgotten. Above is a remnant of the North Tower rubble, on display at the Ronald Reagan Library and Museum in Simi Valley, CA, salvaged as an iron clad reminder of how American life is not, and never was, free of extremist attack.

If we, as a country, don't awaken to the possiblity that a future catastrophic event will occur at the hands of anti-American terrorists, then history will repeat.

I am disappointed that no national standard for public safety has emerged in the past 10 years. Non-uniform standards at major transportation sites should not be tolerated. What is allowed through the borders of an individual state, can have a profoundly negative effect on us all.

Reflect, remember...redouble vigilance in your personal and national safety.
